Ken,

I am hoping to promote a group of Australian Nordhavn’s to accompany me to Med in 2009. It would be a good opportunity for any US boats who are heading out to OZ in 2008, who may wish to continue on the westwards trek. Mark Johnson N55-27 who leaves this spring to cross the Pacific from Mexico has indicated he will be a starter.

The kick off would be from Darwin to Indonesia in a part of the Sailindonesia Rally last week of July 2009. This rally is conducted under the auspices of the Indonesian Government to promote tourism, and they put on a great show with the best of cultural displays in the various diverse regions of this fascinating archipelago of 700 odd islands.

Another organised rally follows on from this to Langkawi Malaysia via Singapore. From there we are on our own to head at our own pace to Phuket Thailand, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, then to the Red Sea and through Suez to the Med.

It is important to note that all dogs coming to Australia must be quarantined for a period, and I expect this will be the case with many countries throughout the world, particularly Islands. I think Jimmy Cornell might have a good summary take on this on www.noonsite.com

Regards,

Peter Sheppard
