Braun:
I agree, and like this plan.
I’m still in Mexico without pilot
charts for the Pacific, so I can’t do any route planning. I’m in Las Vegas next week, and
can hopefully find a way to get some books and charts. Specifically, I want to
see the pilot charts for the Pacifc, to see what the best month for a crossing
would be. Scott Strickland posted a message saying that he thought summer was
the best time for the crossing. I’m hoping that when I see the charts, a
Spring 2009 crossing will be possible.
Unless someone objects – as far as I’m
concerned, we have a plan. As said before, I’m thinking one season (from
summer 2009 to April 2010) in Hawaii, followed
by the Tahiti (and French Polynesia) the following year; after which we’ll
either return to the US,
or continue on around. The current plan is to continue on around.
As to the short-term plan, I would still
like to ship our boat, in October or November of this year from the Pacific NW
to La Paz.
We are still undecided on whether to ship
from Golfito, or from La Paz,
back to the Pacific NW in April or May of 2008. Chris: when do we need to
decide? I wish there were a way to make up our minds when the time comes, but
know that it is impossible.

Pacific crossing/BRAUN'S REPLY IN ALL CAPS OR RED
Ken,
Recognizing we are discussing plans
‘2 years’ away… I like the idea of San
Francisco because it is a reasonable distance from where we would
conclude the Alaska trip in the late summer
2008, a great city, and I could safely leave the Pearl from Sept/Oct 2008 until the Pacific
departure in the spring of 2009.
