Pacific Crossers: Sorry to be so slow giving feedback from the straw poll that
we did, regarding the Pacific crossing. It is looking like we are discussing multiple crossings, at
different times, with different destinations…. At the bottom of this email is an attempt to
“group” everyone according to my interpretation of their responses.
My apologies for any errors – just email me the correct information and
I’ll republish this list. Also, as you read through this list, keep in mind that it is
likely to change often between now and departure day. Boats will come and go
over the next year or two. As we get closer, the information will get more
accurate. Although we are likely to have a high attrition rate between now and
departure day, I expect more boats to opt-in, than opt-out. You will notice that I listed the lengths of the boats on
the list below. My guess is that boats 55 feet and higher will be traveling at
8.5+ knots, and that under this size, they will be traveling at 7.0+ knots.
Realistically speaking, the faster boats are not going to want to cross the
“pond” any slower than they need to. Ken Williams PS On a personal note – MY BOAT SPLASHED THIS PAST
